Our Story
Made by hand, for a reason.
Nyra started with one bag and a question we couldn't shake: why does carrying something well have to cost the earth?

Where it began
A kitchen-table idea
We grew up watching our grandmothers weave. Years later, working in textile sourcing, we kept seeing the same thing — mountains of plastic waste with nowhere to go, and bags built to be replaced, not kept.
Nyra is the answer we wanted: recycled plastic, woven by hand into something built to last a decade, not a season. Every bag we make is proof the two ideas aren't at odds.

Journey
How we got here
2019 — First stitch
A single woven tote, made on a kitchen table, from plastic waste we couldn't stop thinking about.
2021 — The workshop
We partnered with a small weaving workshop in India, trading scale for craft we could stand behind.
Today — Carried further
Thousands of bags later, still woven by hand, still made from what others threw away.
"We didn't want to build a brand. We wanted to build something worth keeping."
What we believe
Values we weave in
01
Honesty over marketing
We say what's true about our materials and our impact — nothing more, nothing dressed up.
02
Craft over speed
Every bag is hand-woven. We'd rather grow slowly than compromise the workshop that makes them.
03
Kept, not discarded
The most sustainable bag is one that lasts. We design for years of carry, not a season.
